Parent's Evening

Thanks for all the parents and relatives who came to see the Year 2 teachers this week about their child's reports. It really was great to see you all.

We hope to see you all the summer fayre on Saturday!

Super Stanley!

Well done to all the children in 2 Olive who completed their Stanley homework really well. I enjoyed reading about where he had been on his travels!

On Friday your child will take home a story plan about Giant Stanley and will use this to write their own story. Ensure your child uses speech marks, connectives and adjectives to make their story as interesting as possible.

2 Olive's class trip to the Zoo.

Our Trip to the Zoo
We really enjoyed our trip to the zoo. We learned a little more about lifecycles and paid close attention to the different patterns found on various animals. We also had lots of fun!

The penguins were cooling off.

We role played the life-cycle of a butterfly.

The Zebra skin felt greasy.

We could feel the Leopard's claw!

The macaws were so noisy!

the snake was scaly.

We enjoyed watching the animals in action. The giraffe skin has an amazing print.

2 Olive's Trip to the National Gallery

We have been learning about impressionism in Art this half term. the artists we have studied are Monet and Seurat. Here are paintings by the 2 artists:

We also spent some time by the water fountains in Trafalger Square. Some of us threw in a penny and made a wish!

This week in maths we are looking at 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. We are asking questions like- How many faces does it have?Are they curved or flat?How many edges does it have?Does it have a point?

We are also looking at symmetry and finding out if something is symmetrical. Something is symmetrical when it is folded in half and the two halves of the page are equal or mirror images. Can you see which shape is symmetrical?

This week in maths we are learning how to answer questions using information in graphs and plotting our own graphs.
